While most of the comments among her Facebook friends was positive, media blogger Jim Romenesko pointed out that one reader told her to ‘just report.’ Make sure you read the comments on that post.

Update: Rebecca later explained her post a little bit more on Twitter:

What do you think?

  1. You’re proud?? I’m ashamed of you, of all of you. You actually not only condone something unethical and immoral, but from the very first illegal, but you advocate for it. You’ve helped make South Carolina not only a laughing stock, yet again, but shamed us all. I’m not delusional enough to think it’s a great thing for someone to do something wrong just because of their zip code. Why don’t you advocate for the meth heads down the street? They’re only hurting themselves, not a child and her family.

  2. Reporters should report the news. Both sides should be presented and equal time should be given to each side. Advocating is basically presenting an opinion. Time often shows mistakes that have been made. I think the media attention given to Veronica Brown has been full of misinformation and partial truths. I would love to see follow up articles on Jan Hunt, who recanted her report in favor of the Capobianco’s and follow up with; why the need for bumper stickers and perfume used with Veronica’s name and image. I have a feeling Veronica Brown will be paraded around for photo op opportunities and publicity in those so called human interest stories for years to come.

  3. We need journalist to actually do their job! Research ALL aspects of things. Read both sides, court documents they are all there for everyone! Thank you so much for your one sided opinion which in turn gave people misinformation on to what really happened. It’s nice to see so many people on board for LEGAL KIDNAPPING!
